Already experiencing the longest ski season in a decade, two West Virginia ski areas have extended their ski seasons past Easter Sunday. Winterplace Ski Resort will remain open for skiing, snowboarding and the like until Wednesday, April 3. And Snowshoe Mountain Resort ski season will be extended with the ski trails open until Sunday, April 7.
The West Virginia mountains have been slammed by several major snowstorms this ski season. The natural snow, exceeding 200 inches in some areas, has contributed to an excellent ski season at all the ski areas. Snowshoe Mountain Resort, for instance, has received 187 inches of natural snow this season including 19 inches in the last seven days. There skiers will find 9 open lifts and 52 trails that are still available.
Both places offer equipment rentals and lessons. Check their websites for up current ski conditions.
Anyone looking to make their last ski runs for the season are in business, at least for another week.
