The Vegas Indie Film Festival (VIFF!) takes place from Wednesday, May 1st through Wednesday, May 8 kicking off with the World Premiere of local filmmaker favorite Kelly Schwarze’s latest film “Territory 8” at the Orleans Casino Movie Theatre located at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue. Following the red carpet screening from 6-8pm there will be an after party at McMullan’s Irish Pub with drink specials provided by Vegas Vodka.
The movie showings continue at the Orleans on Thursday, May 2nd with the 48 Hour Film Project Awards Screenings from 6-8pm. Featuring a variety of short films the 90 minute event will be followed by the Nevada Premiere screening of the feature film “Two Hundred Thousand Dirty” starring Coolio from 8-10pm. Finishing up the evening there will be an after party at the Marquee Nightclub & Lounge and the first drink is free if you bring your ticket stub.
On Friday, May 3rd, the festivities move to the Arts District downtown where there will be a First Friday Filmmaker Party at theatre7 located at 1406 S. 3rd Street from 8-11pm with free food and drinks for Festival Pas Holders.
VIFF! continues at theatre7 on Saturday, May 4th with the Int’l/Nevada Short Film Block #1 from 5-7pm featuring “Hole,” “Holiday(s),” “Broke,” “Showdown at the Hipster Saloon,,” “A Short Film” “Death by Chinese Junk,” “A Virus Called Fear” and “Jagerbar.” There will be free food and drink for ticket holders, then from 7-9pm the Int’l/Nevada Short Film Block #2 begins with “Ray Bradbury’s Kaleidoscope,” “Shade of Blue,,” “The Color of Christmas,” “Reign,” and “God of the Machine.” Following Block #2 will be an after party at a secret location with drink specials provided by Vegas Vodka.
Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, May 5th at theatre7 VIFF! Proudly presents the World Premiere of popular legendary local filmmaker Ted V.Mikels feature film “Corpse Grinders 3.” Executive producer Mikels will be in attendance with a filmmaker Cinco de Mayo Dinner following the screening.
Tuesday, Mary 7th from 6-11pm there will be a Directors Notes – Workshop hosted by Director Sean Jackson, whose recent feature film “Bubblegum & Broken Fingers” was screened at the last VIFF! Film Festival. This event takes place at the Indie Film Factory located at 3111 S. Valley View Blvd, E-127 in Las Vegas and there will be free refreshments for ticket holders.
There will be two Red Carpet Screenings plus a special presentation honoring Producer/Director David Schmoeller held on Wednesday, May 8th celebrating the final night of the VIFF! Film Festival at the Orleans. First of all from 6-8pm will be the Nevada Premiere of “Liars, Fires and Bears” followed by the closing feature film “Matt’s Chance” from 8-10pm, which will have the film’s star Edward Furlong in attendance. Closing out the evening will be an after party at McMullan’s Irish Pub with drink specials provided by Vegas Vodka.
In addition, there will be a Closing Encore Film “Little Monsters”, which will have its North America Premiere at the Palms Brenden Theaters located at 4321 W. Flamingo Rd in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 9th at 7pm. This screening is not included in the VIFF! Festival Pass.
