Two areas of low pressure will keep the start of the new work week a little unsettled. The first low pressure area of focus was over the lower Great Lakes. This system has grown tired of having to fight against the ridge of high pressure that has been place over our region since the later portion of the previous week. Also of note was a moisture laden storm system over the southeastern United States that was sending cloud cover northward toward our region. The bulk of precipitation associated with the second storm was approaching the southern mid Atlantic region.
Some light showers will start the work week, thanks mainly to the weakened low pressure area to our west (over the Great Lakes). This system is forecast to disintegrate over that region through the course of the next twelve to eighteen hours. The system to our south will likely also be deterred from northward movement toward our region thanks to the fact that the strong high pressure ridge is forecast to rebuild across our area beginning on Tuesday.
After some residual morning clouds and showers on Tuesday, the weather should turn decidedly more fair and dry. Several days of mostly sunny skies, mostly clear nights, and near to slightly above normal temperatures are forecast straight through the coming weekend.
