Those who have followed the series “Musings After Midnight” at The Liberty Sphere blog are well aware of the fact that civil war on the homeland, here in America, is near. That conclusion was not reached due to any leadership on the part of the author but the work of the author in “keeping the ears close to the ground,” and then reporting what those within the leadership of the resistance movement say.
Such reporting is not an attempt to “out” anyone or to leak sensitive information but to serve as a warning to those who occupy powerful seats in government that unless they back off the current attempt to limit, restrict, and outright ban certain rights of citizens, there will be a heavy price to pay, too heavy for prudent minds to accept.
The very fact that there is a sizable resistance movement to what our own government is doing is reason enough for the political class to sit up and take notice.
This is not simply another movement of discontents such as The Weathermen during the 60s and 70s during which Obama cronies Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn attempted to overthrow the government, kill the parents of young participants in their movement, and then usher in a new era of Marxism. Rather, this movement consists of patriotic Americans who fly the flag, proudly recite the Pledge of Allegiance, vote in every election, faithfully pay their taxes, serve in the military, and put their lives on the line each day as first responders to crime and disasters. These everyday, normal Americans have seen something alarming take place in the halls of government, and they have pledged to uphold the U.S. Constitution no matter what, even if they are ordered by their superiors to violate it. In the view of these patriots, it is not the government structure itself that is broken but the people who have been chosen to occupy it. The goal, thus, is not to “overthrow the government” but to clean house of the corrupt personnel who have crept in and sought to destroy our Constitutional system of government from within.
In the latest edition of “Musings After Midnight,” the author stated that it is fifteen seconds to midnight on the doomsday clock at which time the Republic will be thrust into a long and bloody civil war, not because patriotic citizens start it but because the tendency of government tyrants is to unleash every tactic in their arsenal to guard their power, even if it means killing our own citizens.
Since that entry in the series, it has been suggested that it is now 10 seconds to midnight. Despite our incessant warnings, the government tyrants have made it clear they have no intention of backing off their relentless attempts to disarm the citizenry.
But in a very real sense, it is already midnight on the doomsday clock and the war has already begun.
Mike Vanderboegh, who has been the leader by default of the resistance, wrote a detailed treatise on the current situation Monday which confirmed in the minds of the astute that the war for the restoration of the Constitutional Republic has already begun. The only difference is that this type of war is very different from how most people define “war.”
In the past wars were fought between sovereign nations. War was an official declaration of hostile intent on the part of one nation against another, sometimes as an aggressor and other times as a defender of the homeland against the aggressor. Such a declaration came from the top layers of government. In our own case, a declaration of Congress.
But in the modern era that understanding of war has vastly changed. The last four wars fought by the United States, beginning with Korea, came without an official declaration of war by Congress.
Further, beginning in 2001 the entire notion that war is matter between sovereign nations was made moot due to the actions of a terrorist organization that had no official connection with any one nation. The “war on terror” does not fit with earlier definitions of the term.
And thus, we come to Vanderboegh’s assertion that what we are now facing is “4th generation warfare” wherein the resistance utilizes all available networks — political, military, economic, social — to convince their oppressors that their goals are unachievable or too costly to risk. Vanderboegh takes his definition from a book by Col. Thomas X. Hammes titled, “The Sling and the Stone — On War in the 21st Century.”
The Vanderboegh article must be read in its entirety in order to understand the concept in its historical context and in its broad implications for the present day. But although it risks oversimplification, the concept can be summarized as follows. Fourth Generation Warfare is not driven by military superiority but by an idea, a concept, a conviction that what is being fought for is worth the time, effort, expense, and if necessary, death. The tactics utilized are designed to protect innocent civilians and aim at the political decision makers. The goal is narrow and sharply focused, in this case to restore Constitutional law by a change of personnel. This is accomplished by a combination of civil disobedience, guerrilla operations, limited acts of defiance, and other covert operations encapsulated by the following summary: Defy, Resist, Evade, Smuggle, Sabotage.
Note that the patriot’s resistance movement is not intended to kill. The evasive measures undertaken, as denoted above, are designed to prevent the oppressors from killing us. Our focus is on one simple, powerful idea that can never be overcome or wiped from the face of the earth — human liberty is an innate quality given to us by God Himself. We are meant to be free, not slaves. And we are meant to fight to be free against the forces of evil that seek to enslave us, even our own government.
