SOUTH BEND, IN. – Movie lovers will be excited to know that the Mid America Filmmaker is presenting their 5th Annual River Bend Film Festival at 3 different venues.
This four-day event begins with a kick-off screening tonight at Merriman’s Playhouse, 1211 Mishawaka Avenue from 7 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. with a series of short films.
Thursday night films will be hosted at Indiana University South Bend’s Weikamp Hall, room 1001. The university’s New Media students will display their work in addition to more short films screenings. Concluding the evening is the feature film Shot By Shot, The Magic of Movemaking, a dramatic motion picture by an Boston Emerson College student.
The main festival will take place at the Century Center, 120 S. St. Joseph Street. The event begins Friday, April 5 from 7 p.m.—10:30 p.m. Hollywood producers John Baldecchi and Kathleen Haase, known for their work on films like Conan and The Mexican will be this year’s keynote speakers. They will be part of a Producers’ Panel Saturday to answer questions regarding their filmmaking experience.
Saturday’s festival is more family-friendly presenting young producers and directors with Kids Short beginning at 10 a.m. followed by Roz Puppets.
Indianapolis filmmaker Kate Chaplin present her film Ingenue and will celebrate women in filmmaking with her workshop presentation.
Saturday night’s program begins at 7 p.m. with an awards ceremony, the feature film Odd Thomas starring William Dafoe and Anton Yelchin by producer John Baldecchi. The evening will end with a series of short films.
