On Saturday, April 20, 2013, Thailand’s Ambassador to the United States, Chaiyong Stjipanon, Ph. D. visited Boston to show support of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. The Ambassador was accompanied by his 1st secretary and the Thai Consul General from NYC.
The diplomats were met at the Boston Buddha Society’s Vararam Temple in Bedford, MA by the Deputy Consul General, Threeracht Charlie Songtachalert. Together the group of dignitaries spent time with members of the temple, and those visiting the temple for the day’s ceremony before heading into Boston to complete their visit.
When the Ambassador was asked about his visit, he said they “came to visit and pay respects to those in Boston that had been affected by the bombings and deliver a blessing from the Thai Royal family.”
Additionally, he said “there were two Thai restaurants in the general area of the bombings and wanted to check in on them as well.”
The Consul General makes trips to the area from time to time, but generally under much better circumstances.
