A Kaufman, Texas district attorney and his wife were found shot dead in their home, just two months after one of his assistants was gunned down near their office. The bodies of Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were found on Saturday, according to “Fox and Friends Weekend” on Sunday March 31, 2013.
Authorities believe the shooting of the assistant district attorney and the shooting of District Attorney McLelland and his wife are related. According to Yahoo News on Sunday morning, No arrests were made in the first shooting of Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, who was shot in a parking lot on January 31.
This murder has shocked Kaufman County. Authorities are also looking into a possible link into these two shootings in Kaufman County, Texas and the killing of Colorado Department of Corrections head Tom Clements. Clements was gunned down at his front door after answering the door bell.
The gunman believed to be responsible for Clements killing was killed in a shootout with authorities earlier this month, about 100 miles away from Kaufman. The police chief of Kaufman told the newspapers that he is not saying that the shootings are related, but “you always have to assume until proven otherwise.” Police Chief Chris Aulbaugh is not ruling out any connections at the moment, when talking about the Hasse murder and this weekend’s murder of the district attorney and his wife.
The FBI, along with local and state authorities are investigating all of these murders. McLelland and his wife have two daughters and three sons. One son is a police officer in Dallas.
