You don’t have to go through another summer feeling self-conscious about your weight. Instead, learn how to use emotional freedom techniques (EFT) — which Dr. Mehmet Oz recently featured on his talk show — to manage uncomfortable emotions that keep you overweight and to tap in positive statements to help energize your weight-loss efforts.
EFT — which is also called tapping — is a powerful stress-reduction technique that combines ancient acupressure principles and modern psychology. Studies show that it is an effective weight-loss tool. For example, one study of 96 obese adults found that those who participated in an EFT weight-loss program reported that they lost weight, lowered their body mass index, experienced fewer cravings and saw other improvements when compared with the control group. These benefits persisted at six- and 12-month follow up assessments.
You can learn how to use EFT to manage weight and keep it off at a six-week Tap into Your Ideal Weight program that starts May 15 in Concord, N.H.
“Tapping can literally change people’s whole approach to weight loss,” says Linda Hopper, a certified EFT practitioner and one of the program’s presenters. “They won’t have to struggle and fight their bodies. Instead, they’ll learn how to use EFT to take charge of their weight with ease and confidence. They’ll naturally make healthier choices and weight loss will seem effortless.”
When using EFT, people focus on a specific problem, issue or symptom and tap on the body’s acupressure points. The tapping sends calming signals through the body and to the brain. During the weight-loss program, participants will tap on a variety of issues that can hinder weight loss efforts, such as:
- Feelings about their body
- Childhood messages about weight
- Painful experiences they’ve had because of their weight
- Resistance to exercise
- Lack of motivation
EFT works with any diet or fitness program. Some people who use EFT don’t follow any specific weight loss plan they just naturally make healthier choices.
“People who use EFT for weight loss often find that they not only shed excess pounds, they also start feeling better about themselves and other areas of their lives.”
The six-week Tap Into Your Ideal Weight program will be held from 6-7:30 PM on the following Wednesdays: May 15, 22, 29, June 5, 12 and 19. The class will take place at Hopper’s home office. Space is limited. To reserve your spot or to find out more about the program, you can email Hopper at email@example.com. To find out more about EFT/tapping, click here.
