‘Survivor: Caramoan’, Episode 12 preview: A double-dose of Tribal Council

by tape unit

There are only two Amigos left in the game and only two episodes remaining until the Survivor: Caramoan 2-hour Finale on Sunday, May 12. So with deuces being wild, it’s only fitting that this week’s episode of Survivor will bring us not one, but two, Tribal Councils.

Double Tribal Councils usually mean one of two things: If occurring early in the season, it usually marks a huge twist or a turn in the game. Usually though, if happening later in the season (as this one is), it is typically a way for the Survivor producers to fast-forward the game through a series of highly predictable votes and eliminations.

So this double-ousting could spell trouble for Reynold and Eddie, who would seem like the obvious one-two punch-out. That doesn’t mean that either will get the boot, although at least one of them leaving seems highly probable.

Here is the synopsis of tonight’s episode from CBS, before we run through some other potential scenarios:

Episode 12 – “The Beginning of the End” – Two immunity challenges and two Tribal Councils raise the stakes, forcing castaways to consider big moves on their biggest threats, on SURVIVOR: CARAMOAN – FANS vs. FAVORITES, Wednesday, May 1 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Analysis. If you were to go by the title of the episode (words spoken by Cochran), this episode could be where the alliance of six begins to fall apart. Because it is now six to two, there still is no good reason for any of the six to want to keep Reynold and Eddie around…for anyone else to go, it would require a large majority of the six to blindside one of their own.

So if Reynold or Eddie wins the first Immunity, look for the other to get sent packing almost assuredly. But if the remaining Amigo wins the second Immunity Challenge, the six will be forced to eat one of their own. So who could it be?

Oblivious Brenda seems to be the easy pick, but Andrea has been playing so aggressively, she may garner more attention as a potential threat. At this point it seems that there is no breaking the bond Dawn and Cochran share and Sherri seems to be sitting pretty, tightly tucked up under the radar. Obvious boots then coming up, seem to be Reynold, Eddie, Brenda and then Erik…who has had multiple opportunities to become a power player but seems too timid to want to get his hands dirty. And who can blame him? Erik’s boneheaded move his last time out (giving away his Immunity Necklace) seems to have made him a player afraid of risks.

So will tonight’s double-elimination be a game-changer, or is it just a way to throw out a bit of trash as we steam-roll towards the Finale? Don’t forget, there is also another hidden Idol out there somewhere…will that factor into tonight’s episode? Reynold and Eddie have had their back up against the wall literally all season…could their games finally come to an end or do they have yet another couple tricks up their sleeves?
