It’s the last day of April. The heat is still delightful. The humidity has not crossed the 65% barrier. Residents of Bradenton and Sarasota are lulled into pre-summer lethargy where residents tend to forget that Summer is Coming. And it will be Hot. And what will you do with your children in the heat of the day, before the afternoon rain?
There are a myriad of choices of summer camp activities for families to select the Perfect Summer Beat the Heat Camp for their youth. Here are a few examples: Players Studio Summer Camp located at 838 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota will host adventures in musical theater for ages 8-18. Sarasota Orchestra Summer Music Camp located at 709 N. Tamiami Trail will allow campers to try an instrument or hone their current musical skills. The Art Center Manatee Kids Emerging Artist Camp located at 209 9th Street West in Bradenton will cultivate the young artist’s imagination in the areas of pottery, photography, tee shirt design, drawing, and painting. There are Dance and Tumble Camps. There are YMCA Camps. There are Marine Ecology Camps. And there are Church Camps.
In the immediate Manasota County area, Christian Retreat, located at 1200 Glory Way Boulevard hosts two Sleep Away Summer Camp Sessions designed to stimulate the creative minds of attendees, allowing campers to experience and try out new skill sets. Some of these include ministry with puppets, black lights, dance, cheering, tubular praise, safe sword dance, hip hop, and drama. Of course there is Swimming! Activating healthy competition between teams of campers and most importantly, developing a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ is all a portion of both camps itinerary.
Hundreds of campers spend 5 days and 5 nights on the Retreat Grounds, sleeping in the hotel on property, and eating each meal at Agape Gardens Cafeteria. [Meals for Teen Camp will be supplied by Chick-Fil-A, PoBlanos, Geckos, Sonny’s and Subway.] Qualified instructors and chaperones concentrate on imparting a fresh understanding of who Jesus is in the daily lives of the Youth of Today, and in their home life. Transformation comes each week. Many campers initially come because their parents Made them come. By the end of the week, their hearts have changed, and This Camp has become the catalyst of a life changing experience in their hearts. No camper leaves the same. They leave Forever Changed.
