Here are the highlights for April:
The Lousiana Philharmonic Orchestra starts the month out with Shostakovich Symphony No. 9, a performance night that includes Shchedrin’s Concerto for Orchestra No. 1, Schnittke’s Viola Concerto, and the event’s title, Symphony No. 9 from Shostakovich. Concert starts at 8pm Saturday, 6 April, with tickets on sale now from $20.
Madame Butterfly, presented by the New Orleans Opera Association, holds two performances at MJT. Friday, 12 April, at 8pm, and Sunday, 14 April, at 2:30. Tickets are available as low as $25.
April concludes with a week-long run from the BroadwaySeries’ Million Dollar Quartet. The musical production tells the story of how Rock ‘n Roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins came together for a one-time-only famed recording session. Shows run Tuesday (16) through Saturday (20) starting at 8pm, with 2pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday (21). Final NOLA performance will begin at 7:30 Sunday night.
