The property: The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa is now showing off its recent multimillion-dollar renovation. Situated on quite possibly one of the best stretches of famous Seven Mile Beach, the newly refreshed resort capitalizes on its killer ocean views as the focal point from the renovated lobby and stunning pool area.
Accommodations: We stayed in guestroom 218 with an amazing view of the pool area and ocean. Accommodations have been refreshed too at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa. Simple yet understatedly elegant guestrooms are decorated in a calming and peaceful cool ocean color scheme and feature marble baths, modern technologies, and balconies with island, pool or oceanfront views. As with any Westin property, you can count on the Westin Heavenly Bed® and Westin Heavenly Bath® to create a spa-like experience right in your guestroom.
What families will love: The stunning landscaping of the tropical pool area with plenty of shady spots, the in-room mini fridge.
What adults will love: Nothing says “tropical vacation” more than a lively swim up bar and the Westin delivers this amenity nicely. Parents can perch themselves on a bar stool and keep an eye on kids playing in the pool while sipping on their favorite island beverage. When the sun goes down, things heat up with sizzling live island music just steps away from the sand.
The Spa: During my stay, I spent a morning visiting the Westin’s Hibiscus Spa, scheduled for renovation later this year. Occupying 7,000 square feet, the facility offers separate men’s and women’s steam and sauna rooms, fifteen treatment rooms, women’s whirlpool, and Vichy showers. Services include facials, massages, body scrubs and wraps, waxing, manicures and pedicures.
I arrive at the spa with plenty of time to relax before my treatment. I’m thankful for the ultra lightweight robe in this humid tropical climate. I leisurely enjoy the steam room, sauna and whirlpool before retreating to the simple relaxation area. There is a nice display of fresh fruit, cookies and tea for snacking pre- or post-treatment. My therapist, Anca, picks me up right on time and delivers a spot-on chamomile scrub under the Vichy shower followed by a hydrating lotion application. It’s the exact tonic my parched Northern skin needs after the winter.
What fitness buffs will love: The nicely equipped fitness center, a location that is well suited to a leisurely beach stroll, a vigorous run on the sand or a jog nearby the hotel.
What I didn’t make time for: The award-winning Casa Havana, a AAA Four Diamond Restaurant, is the Westin’s beachfront fine dining restaurant that serves contemporary local island cuisine. Also onsite is a full-service Red Sail water sports center on Seven Mile Beach offers a full array of water sports conveniently located just steps from the hotel.
