Doodle.com has been up and running since 2007, but with the advancements of HTML5 and other browser technologies, web-hosted apps have been gaining in popularity. We’ve got Dropbox and Google Drive for online file storage and collaboration, Prezi and Slideshare for multimedia presentations, and of course, Doodle.com for scheduling mutually-convenient meeting times.
The process is simple, and no sign up is required; punch in some basic information, select dates and times you’re available, and invite people to submit their availabilities. Along the way, you can easily keep tabs on responses, tweak survey settings, and close the form from any further responses. Follow this step-by-step tutorial to schedule your own meeting.
Visit www.doodle.com and click “Schedule an event” to get started. No need to sign up! If you sign up for a free account, however, you’ll be able to manage multiple meeting polls, receive email alerts when people respond, and more.
Enter general information
Fill in general information as needed. Participants will see all fields (except e-mail address) when you invite them to the event. Click “Next” when finished.
Select dates and times
Here, you’ll select dates and times to meet. For more precise time selection, choose “Calendar view.” Click on the calendar to box out a time. Click and drag the bottom/top edges to change the event duration. As you can see in the screenshot example, after checking my own availability, I’ve proposed five different one-hour meeting times. Click “Next” to proceed.
Add finishing tweaks
For most free/busy polls, you can click “Next” to proceed. If you’d like to hide participants’ responses from one-another or change the response options, click “Settings” to further customize.
Share the participation link
Click “Finish” and you’ll receive two different links via email. One link should be shared with all invitees, so they can submit their availability. The other link is for event administration and should be kept private.
Preview as the participant
This is how the survey will appear to invited attendees. Whether on desktop or mobile, they’ll be able to enter their name, check off availability, and click “Save” to submit.
Administer your survey
The private “Administration” link will take you to this page, where, you can view responses, change settings, or close the survey.
