The Santa Cruz Warriors suffered their first loss against rival Los Angeles D-Fenders by a final score of 111-104 on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, CA. Guard Travis Leslie led the Warriors with 28 points.
The Warriors were behind for most of the game, but came back with about 2 minutes left in the game to take a 98-97 lead behind a 19-2 run. It was not enough, however, to snatch the victory from the visiting D-Fenders.
The Warriors were down by three after the first quarter with a 25-22 score and down by seven at the half with a 58-51 score. The third quarter was no different as the Warriors were down by eight with a 79-71 score. The Warriors dug a deeper hole in the fourth quarter down by as much as 16 points before their run to take the lead. However, the Los Angeles D-Fenders found a way to win 111-104 in the end.
Guard Cameron Jones scored 18 points for the Warriors, and Golden State Warriors assignee Jeremy Tyler added 14 points to go along with his nine rebounds. Forward Hilton Armstrong scored a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Warriors avenged their loss against the D-Fenders with a 101-100 road victory in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 30, 2013. They will be on the road on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in Reno and on Friday, April 5, 2013 in Bakersfield before hosting the Jam on Saturday, April 6, 2013.
