The classic battle of form vs. function, the extended battery is a prime example. Try and try they might, cell phone manufacturers haven’t been able to release the highly equipped cell phone that lasts for a full week without charging. Mugen Power fills in that gap with their extended battery. A powerful phone like the galaxy note 2 demands a large battery and Samsung did well. They equipped the note 2 with a battery that easily powers the Note 2 through a typical work day. The feeling of not being tethered to an outlet is liberating. We carry smartphones to give us the freedom of working and playing away from home, but power concerns leave us searching for the indoors when we should be out in the world. Mugen’s extended battery doubles the size of battery and in my experience actually triples the Note 2’s battery life.
There is of course a caveat; you need the patience and humility to respect technology to get the most from this accessory. The battery only reaches its full potential if you follow the included directions to the tee and fully calibrate the battery inside your phone. The process is simple, but again, it’s specific. You need to run the battery down to under 5% and then charge to 100% without interruption, you need to repeat this process about 5 times and then you are off to the races. The difference between a properly calibrated battery vs. just throwing it in the phone is frankly amazing. On my initial use (uncalibrated) I barely reached a full days power with light use. After proper calibration, I have actually reached 3 full days of use on occasion. People need the patience to properly use technology. Everyone wants FASTER, STRONGER, THINNER, SHINIER, and they want it now. That attitude won’t get you far. Patience and this battery go hand in hand. The great part though, is once you calibrate you can treat it like any other battery. Try not to fully discharge it though if you can avoid it.
The included battery cover matches the finish and build quality of the original Note 2. You can order samsungs’s grey or white colors and both come with a built in kick stand and NFC chip. The best part of the design is that Mugen maintained the original bumper measurements. This means you can attach most bumper type covers while the extended battery is connected and you end up with a super phone. Sweet Armor’s Gnote aluminum bumper plus the Mugen Power battery mean my phone is protected from falls and lasts days without a charge. This is what a phone should be.
The battery is compatible with the following models of the Note 2:
