A gas station attendant in Mineola was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning, Nassau County police said.
Investigators said a 24-year-old employee was working at the Citgo gas station located at 2 Jericho Tpke. at 4:10 a.m., according to police. Detectives said the attendant was approached by a black male subject wearing all black, who demanded money.
The assailant displayed a black handgun, while demanding money from the cash register. The employee complied and turned over an unspecified amount of cash and cigarettes. Police said the suspect fled east on Jericho Turnpike after the robbery. The employee was not injured.
Police described the suspect as 25 to 20 years of age and 5-foot 8-inches tall. Although the description is similar, it was not immediately clear if the suspect is linked to a series of armed robberies at other gas stations and convenience stores across Nassau County.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
