Do you take your ability to go hunting and fishing for granted? Outdoors Without Limits OWL is a non-profit organization that seeks to break down the barriers for disabled sportsmen and women, Veterans and seniors through outdoors activities. The 2013 Alatoona Grand Slam is scheduled for May 17th at the Little River Marina, Canton, a fishing trip for wounded and disabled sportsmen and women, and Wounded Warriors sponsored by Little River Marina.
Where: Little River Marina 6983 Bells Ferry Rd. Canton, GA 30115
What time: Sunrise to 3pm
What’s needed for the Alatoona Grand Slam
The fishing trip is set for May 17 which is on a Friday. More than 60 Veterans will show up from five states to enjoy the all-day event of outdoors fishing. OWL provides the assistance for anyone who needs it. Lunch will be provided for everyone. 10-15 boats are needed to take folks fishing, many are ambulatory so bass boats work great, and pontoon boats are needed for those in wheelchairs.
Some muscle is needed to help move people from chairs to boats at 6am. OWL has insurance that covers everyone who is involved, participants, guides and boat owners, etc.
It’s a life changing event
Sign-in and boat launch: 6am-7pm
Teams return: 2pm
Photo session: 2-2:30pm
All electric chairs will need to bring a manual for chair use for the boats.
