The teacher is in.
Ukranian actress Olga Kurylenko has now been selected to star as headmistress Ellen Kirova in Mark Waters’ book-to-screen adaptation of Richelle Mead’s “Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters.”
In the books Kirova is described as a “vulture” with grey hair and some sage wisdom, so clearly the filmmakers are going for a sultrier approach here with the casting of Kurylenko!
She joins Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry and Danila Kozlovskiy for the cast of the film, which is expected to fully begin shooting in May.
Olga Kurylenko is best known for her action feature fare in films like “Hitman,” “Max Payne,” “Quantum Of Solace” and most recently “Oblivion.”
“Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters” hits theaters on Feb. 14, 2014.
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school–it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s–the very place where they’re most in danger. Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi–the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires–make Lissa one of them forever.
