From his college years to his execution, this is a look at the life of Ted Bundy. The loveable, friendly guy that people liked, to the sick monster and twisted things he did to his victims. Based largely on facts from Bundy’s life, this is a film about his crimes, not his punishment or how he was caught.
Michael Reilly Burke (Ted Bundy), Boti Bliss (Lee), Julianna McCarthy (Professor), Jennifer Tisdale (Pretty Girl), Michael Santos (Man at the Window), Steffani Brass (Julie), Tricia Dickson (Vincennes).
The more I think about this film the more I enjoy it. This wasn’t about catching him, punishing him, how he was caught, or even how he slipped by everyone trying to catch him. This was about his crimes pure and simple. How he started becoming a deviant, how he learned from his mistakes, how he grew and matured as a serial killer. It is also a shockingly brutal portrayal of the perverted acts he committed. If you don’t want to see rape or necrophilia, don’t even think about watching this film. Some reviews complain about the movie taking shots at conservatives or that it didn’t explain why Bundy did what he did. That wasn’t what this film was about. It wasn’t trying to explain Bundy, it can’t because nobody can for sure. What this film did was show the gruesome horror that was Ted Bundy without the discrimination of the news media, perspective of law enforcement, or distraction of psychological evaluation. The film simply showed who Bundy was in the most direct and honest way possible, by showing the acts he committed.
Burke was absolutely incredible as Bundy. The emotions he displayed were great, most impressively during the disturbing scenes. Bliss also did a good job as his wife.
Camera work and sets were very good and gave the appropriate impression of not only the time setting for the film but, how it may have been filmed at that time. Dialogue and sound were also well done.
Overall this is a good film if you are interested in Bundy himself or even if you enjoy an interesting horror flick but, don’t underestimate what you will see.
Plenty of disturbing adult content, nudity, rape, graphic sex scenes, language, violence, blood and guts. Definitely not for the faint of heart or easily offended, and obviously for adults only.
Ted Bundy is no longer showing in any Littleton, Colorado movie theatres.
