For those looking for a bit more adventure when motorcycling, MotoVoyager is offering guided tours of Greece.
There are currently three package tours to choose from: Achilles Land, Olympic Tour, and Marathon Tour. MotoVoyager plans to add a Tour of Crete in 2014.
The tours are all-inclusive with expenses such as lodging at high quality guesthouses or hotels, meals and snacks, tolls, admittance fees, fuel, and motorcycle rental covered under the total price of the tour. In addition, tour leaders will furnish transportation to and from the Athens airport, provide full motorcycle insurance and roadside assistance, and provide executive medical care and travel insurance as well as a professional guide on the motorcycle tour.
The tours are priced in Euros with a convenient currency converter. For example the Achilles Land tour is priced at € 3.550 for double occupancy which translates to about $4,600 in US dollars. There are added fees for passengers or for those wanting private rooms.
The Achilles Land tour is a 12-day, 11-night vacation essentially focusing on the mainland of Greece. Once the group departs Athens, the group will spend nine days riding through part of the “Greek Alps” and the Balkan Peninsula and visiting the Delphi Oracle, Olympia, and Mount Olympus – home of the gods and Greece’s highest mountain at 2,912 meters (about 9,550 feet). Along the way, motorcyclists will ride through slopes, meadows, across traditional stone bridges, rivers cited by Homer, and centuries-old villages.
The nine-day, 8-night Olympic Tour focuses on the Peloponnese Peninsula. This trip will include six riding days after leaving Athens. Peloponnese translates to “the island of king Pelops” who is considered by many to be the founder and creator of the Olympic Games. In Olympia, the tour group will visit the historic stadium where the games began. Continuing on, riders will experience diverse landscapes, dramatic scenery, and charming towns before heading to Sparta.
The Olympic Tour is a historical tour for sure but is also a feast for the eyes with beaches, fields, and forests.
The longest tour is the Marathon Tour that is a 15-day, 14-night vacation that includes 11 riding days. This tour is an extension of the Achilles Tour and the Olympic Tour and is ranked as the most cultured motorcycle tour of the western civilization. Along with riding to Mount Olympus, the Delphi Oracle, and Olympia, motorcyclists will also visit the “Dragon’s Cave,” the only cave in Greece with fresh-water lakes, and an archaeological site containing some of the oldest remains of a Neolithic lakeshore settlement dating back to circa 5600-5000 BC.
This tour will take riders across the land where Socrates said his eternal maxims, where Achilles grew up, and where Pericles created the Acropolis.
The routes for all the tours were chosen based on low traffic, sightseeing opportunities, and riders’ safety. Each planned tour also includes a ‘rest’ day where travel to a new destination is not on the agenda but local riding can be done.
The professional guides all speak English and are eager to show motorcycling visitors the beauty of Greece with their unique two-wheeled tours.
MotoVoyager also conducts custom tours throughout the year for anyone wishing to visit at any other time or wanting to design a tour that best suits the individual.
