The environment and all that it entails is a big topic for anyone to attempt to address. However, “Mitzy, the Butterfly” is a fictional butterfly created to narrate a series of books that will delve into many individual environmental issues. She will be describing and discussing her environment. She will be encouraging readers to get involved in their own environment and to get excited about many different environmental issues that need to be addressed.
Mitzy is an environmentalist. She gets excited when she gets to share information about herself – first as a caterpillar, then as a butterfly but most importantly as someone very interested in the environment. Where she lives is important to her. Where the readers live and the healthiness of their environment is important to her.
The first book in the “Mitzy, the Butterfly Series” introduces Mitzy to the readers. Mitzy gives a brief description of being born a caterpillar, going into a pupae where the transformation takes place between caterpillar and butterfly. She proceeds to explain how the butterfly lives only for a short period of time.
Once born as a fictional butterfly, Mitzy explains to readers that she plans to be around a very long time — even in the fall, winter and spring – seasons butterflies are usually dormant or non-existent… at least in Baltimore, Maryland and many other places. She is eager to talk about the environment in so many different ways about a wide variety of environmental topics.
