La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup turned it out on its ninth year against the panoramic clear blue waters of South Beach. Four days of matches included an array of affairs over April 25 -27,2013. The vibe was cool with the best-looking and most stylish spectators year to date.
Under the VIP tent, women were seen clad in full wide brimmed hats, tropical blues, oversized shades to straw fedoras and prim dresses. The men even stepped it up a notch and wore crisp button-down, tucked-in and belted etro shirts donning pocket squares, mirrored aviators and blue blazers. Even the polo players sported trendy uniforms with colors like: Grey Goose team in bright blue, James Royal Palm Hotel team in Neon green, Raleigh ladies wore bright fuchsia polos and the Jet Blue mens crew in bright citrus orange, all of which were paired with optic white jeans.
The infamous, Arianna Huffington was there cheering on the match with a dapper male posse. The music was pumping in-between matches to beats from DJ Hadron. Another local fav, DJ Irie made a cool speech introducing Polo Life President and CEO, Bruce Orosz. It was so evident that fashion truly merges with the Polo lifestyle as there were a bevy of booths set up with polo inspired fashions among them were Miss NYET Jewelry who creates one-of a kind pieces with equestrian elements, raw tanned leathers, horse bits, etc. Metier hats which take a modern approach to the classic fedora with interchangeable ribbon tie trims and modern colors. Tag Heuer had a booth showcasing some of their prominent lifestyle sport pieces; leather racing jackets and key timepieces. LUHHO Magazine a high-end luxury lifestyle fashion glossy made its debut.
Another avid supporter of Miami Beach polo is local artist, Stephen Gamson who in his third year in a row was commissioned to create some outstanding art for the matches. The fashion highlight was a runway show by La Martina. The regal yet rugged looks took center stage inside the tent featuring the latest in Polo wear for spring. The brand had added some funky fresh accessories and shoes to their collection. Like a gleaming gold totebag and embellished leather duffel bags.
This year was so fun and a great way for polo lovers to show support fashionably for such a stellar sport. We look forward to next year.
