Snow continued in the Lake Tahoe region on Thursday, which turned out to be quite the powder day for skiing and snowboarding.
It will be another powder day (March 8) at Lake Tahoe ski resorts with many of them recording nearly 5 inches or more of snow on Thursday and a little bit more snow likely to pile up today.
According to the National Weather Service, it was snowing lightly at several ski resorts this morning and snow showers are possible throughout the day, which will push the storm totals to over 2 feet at several ski resorts.
Homewood Mountain Resort was one of the big winners on Thursday, reporting 7-10 inches. Sugar Bowl ski resort had 6-8 inches, Kirkwood Mountain Resort received 5-7 inches, and both Boreal and Soda Springs had 6 inches.
Heavenly, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, Northstar California and Sierra-at-Tahoe all received up to 5 inches.
According to the Weather Channel, there is a 50-percent chance of snow today, although the snow totals are not expected to be high. There is a 10-percent chance of snow starting Saturday and running through Sunday, March 17.
The weather should be clear and sunny this weekend with temperatures rising into the high 40s or low 50s by Sunday.
The much-needed storm is providing a good start to March after two months of very dry weather in the Lake Tahoe region and throughout Northern California.
