Anyone that listens to hard rock in the past decade plus knows at least a couple of songs by these guys and with an album out just last year; the boys are touring away, stronger than ever. LA Guns is coming to nearby Monirae’s in Penneville on May 3rd with several opening acts and the band is pumped to be coming here. I had a chance to talk with drummer Steve Riley on the phone as the band was getting ready to hop on a plane and head this way so read his comments below.
If you want to go see LA Guns this Friday and don’t have tickets or the cash; listen in to 95X and 105.9 The Rebel as they are giving away tickets all week long.
Be sure to pick up their latest CD Hollywood Forever or any of their CD’s and bring them along as the band will be hanging out signing your stuff and meeting everyone after the show.

Interview with Steve Riley of L.A. Guns
Steve Riley from LA Guns on the phone; thank you for doing this on short notice!
Steve – Oh no, my pleasure man, no problem at all. Thanks for the support!
LA Guns has long been a favorite of mine and I just got done listening to most of Hollywood Forever, great album. Can you talk about that?
Steve – Oh, very cool, I appreciate that man. It came last June and we toured all the last half of last year and into this year; we have a DVD that came out earlier this year which is the making of the album with Andy Johns and a whole live concert. We are really happy with the way it turned out!
Produced by Andy Johns who worked with both Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones; how was that experience?
Steve – It was amazing brother, we did the last four albums with Andy. He was a very good friend and he is going to be missed! He was a master in the studios, you know? You just knew this guy had a handle on what we grew up with and he was just amazing to work with.
Yeah it’s sad that he is gone, such a talent.
Steve – Aw man it’s so sad.
The band is all over the Northeast; how has the tour been going?
Steve – It’s all like little mini-tours really. Two weeks here and back to L.A., have a couple weeks off. We hit an area and do a bunch of shows and come home. We’ve been doing it since the beginning of the year and its going to pick up now that spring and summer are here, we look forward to really working a lot now, you know what I mean?
You will be at Monirae’s in Pennellville this Friday, should be an epic show and my friends at 95X and the Rebel 105.9 are giving away tickets all week, what can the fans expect from LA Guns onstage?
Steve – Right on! We’ve been around for so long now that we have a set of material with 9 -12 songs that we have already done and they want to hear. We sprinkle in some of the new stuff, spread it around, but we have to do like Ballad of Jane, Never Enough, stuff like that!
I see you’ll be in Maryland at the House of Rock on the 12th; say hey to John Guarnieri of Twisted Nail Productions for me.
Steve – We will man, definitely! It’s a really fun place to play! We’re really looking forward to this trip on the East coast, we do this run then we come back here and then go back to do White Marsh and Penn’s Peak with Warrant and Skid Row. We just try to stay busy all the time.
What are the bands plans as far as touring this summer?
Steve – There’s a bunch of gigs already lined up but we have to wait for the headliners to sign off before we say anything. There are shows already and will be posted on the website as soon as we can. I expect us to be busy until the end of the year!
Again, Hollywood Forever sounds awesome and I know people are psyched to see you guys Friday; anything you want to say to the fans here?
Steve – Yeah man come out Friday! We are going to have a great time, the band sounds great! Really tight! We are going to do a signing after the show so we can meet everybody and sign whatever they have; it’s going to be a good time! So come out Friday!
Thanks for the support Dave, we really appreciate it!
My pleasure and safe travels!
