Acclaimed songwriter/recording artist Kelly Lang will hit the live stage at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, to perform songs from her newest album, “Shades Of K.”
Described as “a masterful collection of love songs,” the 10-song disc was officially released in early April and showcases Lang’s sultry vocals. Tickets for Wednesday night’s show are $10 and are available in advance at www.3rdandlindsley.com and at the door. Singer/songwriter Jacy Dawn will open the show. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Many music fans first came to know Lang when she was named a winner of the television show “Ed McMahon’s Star Search.” Since then, she has earned fans worldwide and performances alongside Barry Gibb and on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
As a songwriter, her music has been recorded by numerous artists, including the late George Jones, Lorrie Morgan, Jerry Lee Lewis, Crystal Gayle, The Oak Ridge Boys and husband T.G. Sheppard. Her last single, “I’m Done,” became a breakthrough video on The Country Network and has received 220,000-plus YouTube hits.
As for her new “Shades of K” release on the Leopard Entertainment label, it features nine classic love songs originally made popular by the biggest names in music. Plus, it includes the original song, “The Next One,” that was co-written with country star Lorrie Morgan and Mark Oliverius. Per Lang’s PR camp, the tune is set to be supported with a forthcoming video that’s now in post-production.
“As I listen to her sing, songs like ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘Bluer Than Blue,’ it brings to mind an era when there were true ‘torch’ singers,” remarked Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees in an April 29 missive shared with tapeunit.com.
“Kelly’s vocals are stronger than ever, and you can actually feel her emotions as she sings the lyrics to each song,” he continued. “The beautifully orchestrated arrangements and her sultry voice, will seduce you into wanting to hear it over and over again.”
In addition to her Wednesday-night show, Lang also will appear on Fox 17’s “Tennessee Mornings” on May 1, as well as at the legendary Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree on May 11 with hubby Sheppard and Jacy Dawn.
