Once again, the term Justin Bieber haircut is trending online. Why? The singer posted a shot of his latest ‘do online Tuesday via social media sharing site Twitter. Natch, millions of Beliebers swarmed the Interwebs to seek it out and post insightful commentary. Unfortunately for the Biebs, much of the response has been negative.
Justin Bieber’s New Haircut Getting Mixed Reaction on Social Media
“Yo, Justin Bieber! What’s Up With This Rihanna Haircut?” one follower questioned the singer upon seeing his new style. A post from @EmilyKWells included a link to a story titled, “Justin Bieber Got A Haircut In His Ongoing Quest To Look As Androgynous As Possible”.
As with his last big coif change-up, this move may cost him more than a few unwanted hairs; his haircut may actually end up costing him two things synonymous with Justin Bieber: money and popularity. According to the UK Daily Mail, one (possibly-former) fan isn’t at all impressed with the new Justin Bieber haircut, stating, “What the hell has Justin Bieber done to his hair? Officially don’t fancy him anymore.”
The Daily Mail reported this week that the last time the Biebs went in for more than just a little trim off the top, it cost him a whopping 80,000 Twitter followers. Now that he has, by all appearances, willingly gone in for what some are calling “The Miley” and others “The Rihanna” (shaved close on the sides and in back with just a flap of hair on top), Justin may be fielding more than just a new surge in “Justin Bieber looks like a lesbian” jokes; he may be fielding another mass exodus of fans from his social media sites.

Potentially, a significant drop in fans could cost him big money in album and tickets sales; however, it is unclear exactly how the number of Bieber’s Twitter followers actually correlates to his core, money-spending fan-base. Our guess? The Justin Bieber haircut seen above will have very little impact on Justin Bieber himself in terms of popularity; in fact, his name is all over the place this week because of his hair, and not because of any more fainting spells or cancelled shows, so this haircut may already be helping him more than even he realizes. Or perhaps this is all by design; could Bieber’s new hairstyle have been expertly timed specifically to draw attention away from the more serious, mostly negative gossip surrounding the “Boyfriend” singer in recent weeks?
While we haven’t forgotten the fact that Bieber’s currently being accused of assaulting his neighbor, driving like a self-important, overly-entitled brat and even shirking his responsibilities as an artist of late, we do genuinely appreciate a new, slightly-fluffier reason to tease him. For that reason, and that reason alone, we fully endorse the new look.
