Instead of happy hour at the bar, head over to the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Gardens for food, fun and music.
National Gallery of Art is hosting Jazz in the Garden every Friday May 24 thru August 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Last Friday, D.C. Afrofunk band Chopteeth performed at the Sculpture Gardens. They never disappoint whenever they perform. Their music follows the tradition of Fela Kuti, the pioneer of Afrobeat, using culture and consciousness. The audience enthusiastically danced to the pounding drums and heavy brass instruments.
Although there is food at the event, it’s cheaper to bring your own. Outside alcohol is prohibited. Enjoy the show!
