May has been officially declared as the “Interviewing the Indies” month. As such, all month there will be posts containing interviews with indie authors. Today’s guest is Debra Ann Miller, author of Descended and Ascended.
What do you have published?
My debut novel is titled Descended (Fallen Guardian Saga #1). It is a YA Paranormal Romance Saga. Vie was the beautiful young Guardian that had been sent to Earth looking for a boy named Carter and she did so merged in the vessel of seventeen year old Vivian Thorne. Their meeting sparks a passionate romance between the two and soon after they embark on their journey to uncover the secrets of a past that they begin to realize they both shared.
What are you currently working on?
I just finished book two in the slated “Fallen Guardian” trilogy titled Ascended (Fallen Guardian saga #2).
How do you stay motivated?
What motivates me most are the stories I have in my head. Imagination is a horrible thing to waste. I intend to keep writing as long as I have characters with a story to share.
What has been the most challenging aspect of being an indie author?
I would say the most challenging thing for me as an “indie” is trying to get these wonderful stories out to the public. It’s difficult to compete with big publishing houses who seem to have the “lion’s share” of the market. But I always knew this was an endurance sport, and if you don’t cut corners and don’t underestimate the challenges you face, there is no reason for you to be unsuccessful.
As a writer, what is the one thing you cannot live without? Why?
Hands down…my laptop. It’s like my purse. It carries all of the things that are most important to me and irreplaceable. My imagination lives inside of this device!
You can purchase any of the Indie YA Books from amazon. Stay tuned for more Interviewing the Indies, happening all May long!
