May has been officially declared as the “Interviewing the Indies” month. As such, all month there will be posts containing interviews with indie authors. Today’s guest is Aaron Crocco, author of several science fiction pieces.
What do you have published?
I’m a teller of apocalyptic and sci-fi tales. My As Darkness Ends series is a Rashomon-style end of the world work with different points of view. My latest book Chrono Virus is a story about a deadly time-altering virus.
What are you currently working on?
I just began a new novel with an exciting premise based on our society’s obsession with celebrity culture and changing it up with a dystopian twist.
How do you stay motivated?
It differs day-by-day. Sometimes it’s hearing feedback from a reader while other times it’s that “achievement high” I get after a session of writing.
What has been the most challenging aspect of being an indie author?
Wearing all the different hats of those at a publisher. I’m blessed to have a lot of technical abilities, so I feel I’m able to do a lot more on my own than others who are starting on the journey of being an indie author. That’s been a big plus for me.
As a writer, what is the one thing you cannot live without? Why?
I’m going to cheat and say three things: Scrivener, Coffee, and Music. I cannot fathom working in anything besides Scrivener anymore. It’s been single-handedly the best writing software I’ve used ever. Coffee is a mental cue for me. It tells my brain it’s time to write. I also have to have music playing when I write. During those times, I usually sign up for Pandora One.
You can purchase any of the Indie Adult Books from amazon. Stay tuned for more Interviewing the Indies, happening all May long!
