ABOUT THE BOOK
Lilah Lopez Dreser’s in town to take care of unfinished family business. They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree… or does it? Is there more to Lilah Dreser than meets the eye? Will Cole be in mortal danger when this firestorm throws sparks his way? How do Maggie and Seth feel about Lilah? This time around it may not be a Dreser causing an uproar in Port Fare. It just may be Booker, one of Cole’s best friends. But is he wrong? Usually not!
Q: Congratulations on the release of your latest book, UNBELIEVABLE. What was your inspiration for it?
A: After book one,UNLOVABLE, I thought it would be interesting to see a person from the same family come into town, but have this person make different choices with their life. Same upbringing, yet two different paths.
Q: Tell us something about your protagonist that my readers won’t be able to resist.
A: She is a free spirited young Latina woman. I LOVE Lilah! She is fun and creative and way to spontaneous!
Q: How was your creative process like during the writing of this book and how long did it take you to complete it? Did you face any bumps along the way?
A: This book was difficult to write. The Port Fare series was originally written as a fantasy series, so I had to change everything. I rewrote UNBELIEVABLE five times before I fell in love with it.
Q: How do you keep your narrative exciting throughout the creation of a novel?
A: Lots of rewriting! I overwrite, meaning the novel was very long when I finished it. Then I deleted stuff I felt was dull and left the fun exciting parts in the story.
Q: What is your writing schedule like and how do you balance it with your other work and family time?
A: I write at night until 3 am. I am up by 10 in the morning and ready for the day then.
Q: How do you define success?
A: Happiness. If I feel good about it, and others enjoy my work, I have success.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring writers whose spouses or partners don’t support their dreams of becoming an author?
A: Tough one. My family is very supportive. I’d say, write a best seller and show them! You can do it. Don’t give up. Get involved with a good critique group of fellow authors and learn from the group. Write from you heart!
Q: Anything else you’d like to tell my readers?
A: Book one of this series, UNLOVABLE, is being made into a movie!! I’m very excited. I hope everyone will enjoy UNBELIEVABLE as much as they have UNLOVABLE!
Thank you for the interview! I love book bloggers. You do so much for authors. Without you, we would be just a book on a shelf!
