“Baldr Force Exe” is a sci-fi series based on the titular video game. Souma Toru was simply a young man who spent his days as a fearless hacker. But when a hacking job goes horribly wrong, he’s pressed into service at FLAK: a military organization charged with protecting the network. Things get much more complicated when his missing sister appears within the network. Will he let his personal demons consume him?
The story is pretty good, but it suffers from pacing problems due to the fact that the writer crammed the plot into four episodes. It’s also a little hard to sympathize with Souma over the loss of his dead friend, considering that it was the result of them breaking into a classified military site. They were lucky that the whole group didn’t get wiped out. It’s easier to sympathize with his conflicted feelings about his sister. “Baldr Force Exe” is a decent adaptation for Honolulu video game anime fans.
