Grammy-winning and multiple platinum jazz artist Diana Krall launches her new U.S. tour at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami this Tuesday, April 2.
“It is an honor for the Arsht Center to host Diana Krall’s first U.S. tour date,” said M. John Richard, the performing arts center’s president and CEO. “South Florida fans will be the first to experience this iconic jazz artist’s exilherating new take on beloved classics,” he added.
Krall’s latest album, “Glad Rag Doll,” debuted on the Billboard Jazz Album Chart at Number 6. The album, in which she reinterprets standards from the 20s and 30s, is a departure from her customary sultry sound.
The singer carefully selected songs from her father’s personal record and song folio collection. They include such great jazz and vaudeville standards as Ray Charles’ “Lonely Avenue,” as well as “We Just Couldn’t Say Goodbye,” and “Just Like a Butterfly That’s Caught in the Rain,” both which pay tribute to 20s singer Annette Hanshaw.
The show is part of “Live at Knight,” a new series featuring a lineup of popular entertainers representing world music, rock, soul, hip-hop, comedy, pop, literature, current events, lifestyle trends and more.
Tickets start at $55.
