FGCU coach to USC? That’s what could take place as Andy Enfield is being courted by USC to leave Florida Golf Coast University. According to a report from Saturday (March 30), the Trojans are targeting Enfield because of his up-tempo style of play. It would presumably fit perfectly with the system in place and possibly get the school back among the elite teams in the Pac-12 Conference.
It’s not a surprise that Enfield is receiving such national attention after what FGCU was able to accomplish in the 2013 NCAA tournament. The school became the first No. 15 seed to ever advance to the Sweet Sixteen, despite being given very little chance by analysts to make it out of their first game. A lot of that credit is being given to Enfield, who helped put his team in a great position to win those first two games.
The run came to an end for Andy Enfield and Florida Golf Coast University when they had to go up against the Florida Gators in the Sweet Sixteen. Now it could be the FGCU coach to USC as a way to replace the recently fired Kevin O’Neill. Syracuse assistant coach Mike Hopkins is also on the short list of candidates, but nabbing someone like Enfield could really help in the public relations department during the college basketball offseason.
