The fourth episode of “Fashion Star” that aired on Friday, March 29 has fans annoyed because the clothes are selling out fast and overpriced as evident by the comments underneath the designs from the night on NBC’s website.
Last Friday’s task on “Fashion Star” saw each member of the three designing teams working together to create hot summer fashions cohesively. Nine designers were left; two from Team Jessica who chose to create designs for a “Pool Party,” three from Nicole Richie’s team that created “Summer in the City” fashions and four designers from the very strong Team John which styled “Tropical” resort-wear.
Despite a little drama between Amber and Cassandra, all of the members within Team John are still intact, with three designers selling their fashions. Silvia’s strapless skirt/dress combo sold to Saks Fifth Avenue and Brandon’s Aztec printed shorts went to Express along with Cassandra’s maxi dress.
Hunter became the first contestant to be bought by all three stores and her caftan mini is available at Macy’s along with JesseRay and Garrett’s empire dress, all from Team Jessica.
The only designer from Team Nicole who sold a summer must-have piece on “Fashion Star” was Johana with her strapless jumpsuit who strayed from her team’s vision creating something separate. However, the gamble paid off, with all three buyers immersed in a bidding war and Express winning with a $100,000 offer. Priscilla Barroso’s ended up in the bottom three and the buyers decided to send her and her soho-shorts packing.
The niche of “Fashion Star” is that the clothes are available online immediately following the designers’ runway showing if they are bought, however comments on the show’s website reveal some unhappy fans who have been complaining that the designs are selling out fast, the clothes are way overpriced and the fashions are crafted for model-type physiques, not women with “real” figures.
John Varvatos is once again in the lead with all four of his team members holding fast. Next episode has the designers pairing up to create one cohesive look. “Fashion Star” airs Friday evenings on NBC.
