Week 3 of “Dancing with the Stars” has been anything but smooth sailing for comedian D.L. Hughley. Following a roasting by two of the three judges after his Monday night performance, he was again lambasted by head judge Len Goodman during the results show which aired Tuesday April 2 at 8 p.m. Does Len have it in for D. L.?
Both comedians suffered at the hands of judges on Monday night’s prom-themed competition. It’s not that Hughley and fellow comedian Andy Dickey were standout dancers wrongly criticizes. No, they were both pretty awful compared to the other dancers. There were even other dancers as bad as they were. However, those other dancers, including Wynonna Judd, didn’t get the same tongue lashing that the jokesters got.
In a post-performance video clip from “Dancing with the Stars” Monday night, Hughley was seen complaining about the unfair treatment he felt he got from the judges, particularly head judge Len Goodman. Following that clip, which was shown as part of Tuesday night’s results show, Len was given the opportunity to address his comment with Hughley standing right in front of him.
Instead of admitting his comments were harsh and out of line, Goodman said that after reviewing the tapes of the Hughley’s performance, he felt his comments as judge were too kind.
Hughley stood silent though anyone who was watching could tell he had something he wanted to say. To dispel the tension of the moment, show host Tome Bergeron took that moment to tell Hughley and partner Cheryl Burke that they had been saved – no doubt thanks to fan votes.
“Dancing with the Stars” fans have been responsible for many unbelievable saves over the years. It is possible that the harsh treatment from the judges is spurring fans to come out in support of their beloved comedians.
Tune in Monday night to see D.L. gets another verbal beating from the judges when “Dancing with the Stars” returns.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs Mondays at 7 p.m. on ABC.
