No we aren’t talking about dieting to lose weight. We are talking about learning to balance the plate. Not as a waitress or waiter, but balance the old fashion way.

It is one of those unchanging stances, a little of this a little of that, wow. Yes, you will most likely see that colorful plate. Not only will it look good, taste good, but it will help you to feel good.

What’s your favorite color? Green? You’re right first thought salad. You can’t just eat salad, but there is a lot to say for greens, especially the dark leafy ones. Keep looking, find one(s) you like. Its crazy, but you can juice it, toss it in and whirl until its blended in and whamo you drink and hey you get those wanted vitamins and minerals.

Oh, heck, sorry salads can be awesome with all the special touches, you add it and its yours. Raw veggies are an awesome way to go, add some fruits and you are on a roll.

Okay, let’s look at a balanced plate. One filled with variety from the five food groups.

Mega fruits and vegetables find your faves. Mix and match so to speak. Color will abound.

So many choices in our southern California markets. Strawberry stands on many corners, they sometimes sell out early in the day. Farmer’s markets are very popular and can be found in various locations throughout the weekdays and weekends.

Go to your favorite market whether it is Sprout’s, Trader Joe’s, Fresh N’ Easy, even Target and Wal-Mart you can do a little baby supply shopping in between.

Here’s a thought- grow your own. Can you imagine fresh veggies, fruits from your own backyard. No worries about pesticides.

Time to treat yourself with TLC. Oh, yeah by doing so can you see what benefits baby will reap.

Imagine getting in the habit of eating good, feeling good, and spreading the goodness for generations to come.

Remember that saying you are what you eat? Well? Be good and eat good.

Diet to help you feel good while pregnant. Why not diet to help you feel good, period.

Spice it up, find your favorite seasonings. Give Trader Joe’s, 21Salute, an awesome blend of seasonings a try. Why? No sodium. Diets high in sodium are unbalanced. Check out the labels when you shop. Sodium is often found in high levels.

Good news, bananas have no sodium and are high in potassium. They are great alone, on cereal, in smoothies ( you can freeze them- just watch out for the brain freeze). They also have tryptophan which may help you get some rest.

Berries make an awesome treat as well as a great addition to a smoothie or salad. Blueberries help boost brain power. Strawberries full of vitamin C and are even said to help whiten teeth. Blackberries and raspberries on top of your favorite yogurt provide a healthy, refreshing snack.

Nuts. Actually there is a lot to say about nuts. Awesome source of protein. Even peanut butter can give you a quick boost. Almonds sliced on salads, ground in smoothies add fiber too.

Need to keep the system flowing and keep it going.

Water, juice, drink your way to health.

Rosy cheeks, shiny hair, glowing skin, bright eyes, big smiles, health affects the way we look and feel.

Too much of this and not enough of that is an imbalance.

Being pregnant you are in need of balance. Your hormones can play tricks on you.

Use your balance to cross from you to Mom. Yep, that will be you for many years to come Mom.

Moms have a full platter and a lot of things to balance from family, work, to caring for oneself.

The key- balance.

Balance your activity as well as your diet to help you feel good, so you can balance being Mom.
