The largest social network has rolled out a large lineup of changes or modifications to its platform in 2013. News Feed received a major facelift a month earlier for a more customizable experience, yet the number of Facebook brands has exponentially grown from 2009 along with users Liking more Facebook pages.
Facebook has been constantly introducing new products (Graph Search, News Feed, Facebook Home and others) to keep its venture fresh and updated. Now, social media marketing has been an important strategy for any business to implement, so this leads to a greater number of brands competing for attention online.
The Social Media Analytics and Digital Firm, Socialbakers, compiled specific metrics and a detailed analysis of just how much more the activity and engagement has exploded in just four years.
”In 2009, a Facebook account holder Liked, on average, 4.5 Pages. In just four years, this number increased to an average of 40 Pages! Not only that, but brands have been expanding their use of social media in their marketing campaigns, raising the number of Facebook posts that they make from an average of five times per month to 36,” according to Socialbakers.
If there is an overwhelming feeling that you are processing too many posts in a month chances are you are not alone. Four years earlier users would on average see 23 updates per month, and nowadays updates average to approximately 1440 per month.
So this means the social network has increased its reach into our daily lives and its accessibility even more on different devices (smartphones, tablets, and computers).
What brand pages must do is maintain a level of engagement that is relevant to their target audience, otherwise another brand page will take their place. Below is a breakdown of top ten countries with the average number of Facebook Likes:
- United States 70
- United Kingdom 48
- France 48
- Mexico 41
- Turkey 40
- Germany 28
- Philippines 26
- India 22
- Brazil 21
- Indonesia 21
So the science of Facebook is in full effect given all of these quantifiable and measurable metrics. Companies who were, are or will eventually introduce their branding have to keep the focus clear, make the posts engaging and make sure their designs hook users within seconds. So look at times of the day where you can drive traffic and afterwards post according to your reach.
