Adobe has released Photoshop Touch for the android based phones for the final hardware version of its popular image editing software for use on smartphones.
Ease of Use, Performance: 4/5
Look & Feel: 5/5
How much I enjoy 4/5
Recommendation: 5/5 Stars
Adobe has released Photoshop Touch for all devices including 10 inch and 7 inch tablets and now android and iOS based smartphones with each version slightly different but mostly the same. Photoshop Touch is a limited version of Photoshop but definitely not a dumbed down version with full layer support and tools you would expect from a top image editing program.
Photoshop Touch is more a program than an app with full image editing tools including layers and filters for image editing in ways you are familiar with but adjustments for the smaller devices have been made as well as a few handy features. You can do the familiar with Photoshop Touch like crop and clone but a few new tools like scribble makes use of image editing on a smartphone easier.
Photoshop Touch has full use of layers for image editing but tools like selection may make things a bit complicated on the smaller screen so Adobe created a new tool called scribble that allows for finer selection on the smaller screen which works well. What it really does is gives you a small tool instead of a big one from the tip of your finger for selecting objects on the screen even when you zoom in and out.
One handy feature of image editing on your phone and one you will need for any really exacting work is zoom and touch gestures make all the difference when editing large images on small screens. Adobe has done an excellent job of taking their award winning image editing software to the smaller devices we carry on a day to day basis and make it not only useable but enjoyable to use.
Adobe has Cloud storage available to keep images handy on the internet.
It may take a little getting used to but the tools are there and are actually pretty easy to use but you may have to integrate touch gestures to use some of them like zooming and selecting. Photoshop Touch for the android phone works well and you can edit images including applying layers and special effects like taking a color picture to black and white or even turning one into a watercolor just like Photoshop allows.
I really did not find any tools that Photoshop has that Photoshop Touch does not when it comes to image editing on your phone and tools you would need to at least take an image and finalize it for use on the internet or other uses. I could easily crop, resize and touch up images and send them directly to my site without having to open them on a PC for more editing so the tools given in Photoshop Touch work well and are definitely worth the price of $5 for the smartphone version and $10 for the tablet one.
I highly recommend Adobe’s Photoshop Touch as a fantastic image editor for quick image editing to some polished final projects that you would expect being available from a smartphone program.
