Four people have died in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 south of Fort Lauderdale, FL, as reported by the Associated Press on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. The accident happened early on Wednesday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol were pursuing a sport utility vehicle at high speeds on Wednesday morning when it proceeded to head northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate.
At that point, the SUV crashed head-on into a minivan at Hallandale Beach Boulevard. The impact of the SUV into the minivan killed all four occupants.
Florida Highway Patrol says that the driver of the SUV survived and was taken to the hospital with two broken legs.
The Miami Herald later reported that police were pursuing the sport utility vehicle from Opalocka in Miami-Dade County, and it ended up on I-95 south.
All southbound lanes of I-95 were shut down for a while. The Broward Sheriff’s Office states that an investigation continued on and traffic needed to be stopped.
None of the names of the victims in the minivan have yet been released.
